    Shivaram Hari Rajguru



Shivaram Hari Rajguru (1908-1931) was an Indian revolutionary who played a significant role in the Indian independence movement. He is best known for his association with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev Thapar in their struggle against British rule.


1.Early Life

- Born on August 24, 1908, in a small village named Khed near Pune, Maharashtra.

- From a young age, he was influenced by the patriotic fervor and was determined to fight against British colonial rule.


2.Revolutionary Activities

- Joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), a revolutionary organization committed to the overthrow of British rule through armed struggle.

- Rajguru was involved in various revolutionary activities and was known for his courage and dedication.

- He is most famously remembered for his involvement in the assassination of British police officer J.P. Saunders in Lahore in 1928, an act of revenge for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, a prominent nationalist leader who had died after being injured in a police lathi charge.


3.Arrest and Execution

- Rajguru, along with Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev, was arrested for the assassination of Saunders.

- They were tried and sentenced to death.

- On March 23, 1931, Rajguru, along with his comrades Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev, was executed in the Lahore Central Jail.


4.Legacy

- Shivaram Hari Rajguru is remembered as a fearless freedom fighter who laid down his life for the cause of India's independence.

- His sacrifice, along with that of his fellow revolutionaries, inspired many Indians to join the struggle for freedom.

- His birthplace, Khed, has been renamed Rajgurunagar in his honor.
